As I was doing some file management looking for old demos to delete, I came across this song from 2020. Originally, this hunkered-down-together-in-COVID love song was slated to be on my last record, Wasted Love. The original version was a little too stomp-and-holler for my taste, and didn’t fit the feel of the album. At some point, I felt too overwhelmed by trying to make it fit the album, so I put it up on blocks in hard drive limbo.
When I came back across the song last year, I realized that, despite all the persistent stomp-and-holler, this song was actually more fun than I remembered. So I decided to revisit it as a single, keeping Will Kissane’s original drum take and reworking everything else to bring it into this decade. Fortunately, this also meant revisiting an old song with more production and mixing skills than I had when I undertook Wasted Love.
Emotionally, this song is probably the easiest I will be releasing for a while, so enjoy the good vibes while they last. And it will probably be the second-to-last single I release before putting the album out. I hope it helps you soak up some summer sun and get feeling all feelin on somebody you love.
